Hi to all at Wellstone! Not sure I should even be answering these questions as I am living and working in England and your competition might only apply to people in the USA! But here goes! Q 1 Answer Paul's last major votes in the Senate had mental health in common Q2 Answer Paul's key issues when he ran for State Auditor was economic democracy I do hope they are right as I would like to receive the book! I live and work in the North East of England with an organisation led and run by people who have long term mental health needs who have experienced social exclusion. We are a social enterprise and don't have a lot of money so your book would be great to have to aid us in our work with refugees and asylum seekers, with people who are learning disabled, people who are on tehvery fringes of our society! We undertake research, evaluation and training that is of importance to us such as Mental Health First aid training, Human Rights training, self help and recovery training etc. We are called developing partners. We do not use capital letters on our name to show our solidarity with people at the bottom of the social hierarchy! Hello, I thought I'd give this contest a shot, as I plan on running in my city's next election and thought this book would be an amazing resource! #1) Paul Wellstone's first and last votes in the Senate delt with the authorization of force against Iraq...his first vote was on the First Iraq War and his last vote was on the Current Iraq War. #2) When he ran for State Auditor in 1982, his main issue had nothing to do with finance...it was about a nuclear freeze. At the DFL's nominating convention, he spoke about how a state auditor really doesnt have much to do with the nuclear arms race, but ended by saying something to the effect of "the survival of minnisotans is a minnisota issue". He also called for antipoverty programs, environmental awareness and economic justice. Not sure if I'm right, but I thought I'd try anyway. Thanks for the opportunity and keep up the amazing work! They both were votes against military action against Iraq (Both Presidents were George Bushes) and both were considered politically courageous since they seemed to go against the opinions of his constituency.

I'm guessing that both his first and last votes were involving mental health legislation? As for Auditor - I'd imagine economic justice would have been his key issue.

The first and last major votes by Senator Wellstone had to do with voting against going to war. The first was for the Gulf War, and the last was the War in Iraq. Senator Wellstone's issue that he ran for State Auditor was nuclear power.

His first vote was to oppose George Bush, Sr.'s war in Iraq in 1991, and his final vote was to oppose George Bush, Jr.'s war in Iraq.

Can I ask one favour though as I am prob not going to go for Election could I have a copy of Politics the Wellstone way instead please? Or is this pushing my luck too far! I am interested to know more about Paul's Politics and his approach and as a Liberation / Community Psychologist working in partnership with people who are socially excluded I hoped to apply some of Paul's wisdom to my work in the UK!
